Robert J. Cahill

Robert “Bob” J. Cahill, age 85, of Crossville, TN, passed away on November 16, 2022, at Uplands Village. He was born on October 27, 1937, in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Gordon E. Cahill and Mabel E. (Gatenby) Cahill. Bob moved from Canada to become a US citizen in April of 1959. He served in the United States Air Force from July 1959 to July 1963. Bob was a member of the 903 Radar Squadron in Gettysburg, South Dakota where he met and married Janice Zimmerman. After the Air Force, they moved to Pontiac, Michigan and he worked as an inspector for Pontiac Motors. Bob retired in 1990 continuing to play hockey and golfing well into his 70s. In 2009 Bob and Janice moved to Fairfield Glade enjoying the beautiful outdoors, hiking and golfing. He was an excellent wood worker, creating furniture for his children. He is survived by his wife, Janice Cahill; daughter, Cheryl Popour (Don); son, Duane Cahill; grandchildren, Reid Popour ( fiancé Tasha), Jordan Popour (Sarah), Grant Popour; great grandchildren, Grace Popour and Jonah Popour; brother, Ron Cahill; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brother, Laverne Cahill; sister, Norma Murray; and daughter-in-law, Lori (Bousquet) Cahill. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
