Frank Ralph Fiedler

January 14, 1933 — December 3, 2021

Frank Ralph Fiedler, 88, a resident of Fairfield Glade, passed away peacefully on Dec. 3, 2021. Frank was born on Jan. 14, 1933, in Evergreen Park, IL, to Emma C. Hamer and Frank Fiedler. Frank is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his children and their spouses, Leslie Fiedler, Pamela (Mark) Swayne and Renee (Mark) Verkuilen; grandchildren, Scott and Ian (Shawn) Swayne, and Dan (Jennie) and Tom (Sara) Verkuilen; great-grandchildren, Maliyah Verkuilen, Tanner, Collin and Landon Swayne, and Mika Verkuilen. Frank was incredibly proud of his family. Frank married the love of his life, Phyllis Mayne, on Sept. 19, 1953, in Chicago, IL. After serving two years in the Army, Frank and Phyllis settled in Matteson, IL, and then later moved to Beecher, IL, where they raised their three daughters. Frank had a long career as a bricklayer and stone mason in the Chicago area where he built many homes. He also worked as a bricklayer at Inland Steel. When he retired, Frank and Phyllis moved to Fairfield Glade. Frank was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where he served many years as a trustee. He regularly attended Monday breakfast with the Men's Club and took great joy in hosting the holiday dinners with the group. He and his team of volunteers built the stone pavilion at the church in 1999 to 2000. Frank enjoyed bass fishing and served as tournament director for the Bass Club. He was a volunteer for the FG Lions Club where he assisted in hearing and vision screening at the local schools and raised funds through the Travelog. Frank loved to talk about politics and looked forward to a lively exchange of ideas. More than anything, Frank was proud of the time spent with family. He and Phyllis celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in September. He and Phyllis loved to travel, dance, and spend time with family and friends. He is preceded in death by brothers, Dick Fiedler and Rex Fiedler. Donations can be made in his name to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 E. Adams Street, Crossville, TN 38555. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Carty officiating.
