He was a lifelong resident of the Hebbertsburg Community, the eldest of three children born to Ruben Clarence "Bob" Hamby and Edna Marie (Hedgecoth) Hamby. Known by all to be a work-a-holic, Willis lived his entire life on the family farm where his most treasured hours were spent tending the crops and raising livestock. Additionally, he harvested tracts of timber in the middle and east Tennessee area. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed watching wildlife in the fields and forest surrounding his home, bagging the occasional deer, turkey, or squirrel and catching a nice bass or two from the farm pond for the family dinner table. Upon enlisting in the Army National Guard of Tennessee in 1960 and receiving basic training in Ft. Jackson, SC, Willis proudly served his country and will be laid to rest with military honors. Survivors include son Charles Ruben Hamby, step-sons David Timothy Brock (Rhonda) and Justin Keith Brock (Rena), sisters Eva Redwine (Jerry) and Carolyn Hedgecoth (Jerry), several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews in addition to his soul-mate and best friend, Betty Sue Parsons. In addition to his parents Willis was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Jean (Monday) Hamby. Pallbearers will be Ed Rose, Bruce Rose, Jerry Pugh, Steven Green, David "Bubba" Parsons, and Brad Neely. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Ronnie Redwine, Christopher Redwine, George Hedgecoth, and Andy Turner. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Avalon Hospice, 645 S.
