Funeral Services for Sherley Denton Wyatt, age 80, of Crossville, Tennessee, who passed away on March 31, 2023 will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Bilbrey Funeral Home with burial to follow at Crossville City Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM prior to the service. Sherley Denton Wyatt, age 80, of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away on March 31, 2023 at Cumberland Medical Center. Mr. Wyatt was born on October 13, 1942, in Crossville, Tennessee, son of the late Horace Justin Wyatt and Juanita (Smiddie) Wyatt. Sherley worked in the trucking/transportation industry his entire life. His longest stint was with Averitt Express for almost 30 years. After retirement from Averitt, he started his own freight brokerage company called Crosslinx, which he ran until 2022. Sherley was also instrumental in creating the family business Golf Capital Learning Center. Along with Sue, Vickie, and Greg, a PGA Golf Professional, the teaching facility was opened in 2004 on family land and continues on today. Sherley loved spending time with his family, playing golf and watching Greg play tournament golf, and traveling with Sue. He also enjoyed the Smoky Mountains, car racing, and automobiles in general. Sherley attended and was a member of Faith Baptist Church here in Crossville for 46 years. His father Horace was an original founder of the church, pastored it as a faithful man of God for over 25 years, and left a wonderful legacy for the entire Wyatt family. Sherley was proud of his Christian faith and was always telling people how blessed he and his family were. He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Marilyn Sue (Parham) Wyatt; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Scott and Vickie Wyatt; sister, Evelyn Grace Phipps; brothers, Charles Adrian Wyatt, Horace Lee Wyatt, Robert Andrew Wyatt, and Daniel Luke Wyatt. In addition to his parents, Sherley is preceded in death by his brothers, William Boyd Wyatt Sr., and Norman Dale Wyatt. The family requests memorial donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306 or St. Jude Childrens Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
