Sharon Robbins Shelley, age 78, of Crossville, TN, passed away at her home surrounded by family and loved ones on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Ms. Shelley was born on February 15, 1947, in Nashville, TN, daughter of the late Waymon Clay Robbins and Dot Robbins. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a loyal friend to many.
Affectionately known as Shoddy Rue or Nana, her time on Earth was one filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering faith in the Lord. Her door was always open and you would leave smiling after every visit. According to her, there was never enough Diet Coke, sarcasm, or cheetah print. She made the best peanut butter fudge and could play any song on the piano by ear. Above all, she cherished time with family and never wasted a chance to say how proud she was of them.
Sharon was an RN at Cumberland Medical Center for 32 years and a graduate of Roane State. She cared for people young and old, ranging from Pediatrics nursing to caring for AIDS patients. In her own words, she “always tried to be good to people and treat them right.” She was a shining light in the lives of many in her community.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Brown (Elizabeth) and Jonathan Brown (Kelli); daughter, Bethany McMurdy (Michael); grandchildren, Nathan Brown, Allison Fagan, Baylee Brown, Major McMurdy, Brad Brown, Christopher Brown and James Brown; great grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Hannah Fagan, Carson Fagan and Lily Fagan; siblings, Buddy Robbins and Robin Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her sister, Kay Merryman; brother-in-law, Gary Merryman; and niece, Marcy Martin.
Visitation will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed immediately with a procession to Clarkrange Cemetery for a Graveside Service.
Pallbearers include Kory Fagan, Bobby Jones, Chris Brown, David Robbins, Nathan Brown, and Brad Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Major McMurdy, James Brown, Buddy Robbins, Gene Brown, Carson Fagan, and Matthew Brown.
In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to Autism Treatment Center in San Antonio, TX or to Breakthrought1d.org.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the team at Gentiva Hospice, whose quality care and support Sharon greatly appreciated in her final days.
