Ricky Lyn Davenport, 62, passed away on September 30, 2022. He was greeted in the arms of Jesus with the words “Well done my good and faithful servant” and we know he is singing with the heavenly choir. Ricky was born on January 14, 1960, in Dayton, OH to William Preston and Ortha Jane (Garrett) Davenport. The family moved from Dayton to Crossville, TN in 1977. Ricky graduated from Cumberland County High School in 1979. Ricky married Betty Marie (Taylor) on February 28, 1987, in Kerrville, TX. They were married for 35 years. He was an exceptional husband, father, and grandfather. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents. He was survived by his wife Betty Davenport and daughters Amy Moore (Paul) and Jamie Betts (David). His grandchildren Nikki Moore, Benjamin Trevino (Laurel), Jordan Moore, Preston Davenport, Skylar Betts, and Titus Betts. His honorary grandchildren Joshua Burton, Sylas Burton, and Zavaeh Willis. His brothers Tony and Kenneth Davenport and twin sister Pamela Davenport. Ricky was a bus driver for Cumberland County school district for 28 years. He was lovingly known as “Mr. Rick the singing bus driver”. He was a youth pastor at several churches in Texas and Tennessee. He was a pastor and well-known evangelist, servant of the Lord sharing his love and compassion with his fellow man. He was very talented with his hands excelling at mechanics, carpentry, and several other crafts. He touched many lives with his preaching over the years. He was a talented singer and loved to sing everywhere he went. One of his joys in life was being Santa taking traditional Christmas and put Christ back into the holiday. He wanted everyone to know that Jesus loves them and died for them so they can have eternal life. Funeral Services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Crossville City Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral.
