Mitchell Lenwood Carson (Lynn) age 86 passed away on December 1st, 2023 at American House Senior Living in Murfreesboro, TN. Lynn was born on February 5th, 1937, in Walterboro, SC and is the son of the late Clarence “Kit” Carson and Minnie (Benton) Carson. He is survived by sons Mitch (Becky) and Mike (Roberta) and grandchildren Michaela, Charlie (Mikki), Bobbie Lynn, Davis and Ila Mae. In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by his wife of 55years, France Bass Carson and by siblings Roy Carson, Mac Carson, Ernest Benton, Judy Stone, Nina Blewer, and Annie Oliver. Lynn was a caring and devoted husband who loved to be around the lake telling stories and spoiling his grandchildren. Lynn was born and grew up around Walterboro, SC where he was a member of the South Carolina National Guard. He served in the Airforce as an MP. In 1966, he moved to Cumberland County, Tennessee to aid in the construction and maintenance of what is currently known as Tansi. This is where he met his wife, Frances. After, he moved to help in the construction and development of Holiday Hills Resort where he built a house and has lived until the present. He worked as an electrician for several years wiring many homes and businesses around the community including the Cumberland County Playhouse. He also worked for GNB insurance group. In 1990, he became a rural route carrier for the United States Post Office where he worked until retiring at the age of 75. He was heavily involved with the Crossville Jaycees and First United Methodist Church (where he was involved in the Emmaus Community). He was one of the original members of the Plateau Little League Football program. He was dedicated to the community of Crossville in many ways, especially by being a heavy supporter of his wife, Frances, and all her accomplishments and enhancements to Crossville’s downtown area. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 13th, 2024, at Crossville First United Methodist Church (100 Braun Street Crossville, TN 38555) at 12:00 pm, with visitation preceding the service from 10:00-12:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossville First United Methodist Church.
