Mitch Brown was born to W.C. and Docia Hale Brown in Crossville on September 23, 1928, the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Cumberland County High School in 1947 and joined the Navy in 1948, serving during the Korean conflict. He returned and was employed by the Post Office. He married the former Claris Whittenburg in 1955. He retired from the Post Office after 32 ½ years in 1987. He was predeceased by his parents, siblings, his son, Brian Brown in 2000, and his grandson Kenny Waddell in 2018. He is survived by his wife, Claris, of 68 years; daughter, Linda Anderson (Doug) of Newnan, GA and children, Rachel Plowman (Michael) and children, Shelby, Austin, and Jack; Becky Anderson; Sarah Anderson;and John Anderson (Sara) and children, Titus and Sydney; son, Gary Brown of DeGraff, OH and children, Nathan and Kristina Charles (Nick) and children, Liam, Ren, and Ella; daughter, Sheila Hawn (James) and daughter-in-law, Cadie Waddell Blackmon (Jay) and children, Aubree, Autumn, Kennedy, Maddox, and Melody; Daughter-in-Law, Laura Brown and children, Georgia Brown (Alex Lancaster) and Boone Brown (Amanda); and a number of Nephews and Nieces. Funeral Services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 3:00 PM with burial to follow at Green Acres Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service.
