Marybelle Flanagan, age 86, of Crossville, TN passed away at Cumberland House on May 16th 2024 following a brief battle with leukemia. Marybelle was born October 22, 1937 in Baltimore, MD. Daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Brunner. Marybelle was a mother, nurse, volunteer, and a patriot. She is survived by 5 sons, Don, Joe,Tim,Pat, and Kenneth Cox, whom she raised largely on her own. She was a camp nurse for several summers so that they could all enjoy attending camp. She was full of life, laughter, and genuine straight-forwardness. She was always a comfort to the sick and looked to the needs of others who were experiencing trying times throughout her life. She also has 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her late husband Donald Flanagan. She worked hard all her life. She never quit. She went to church throughout her life. She was a Graduate of Bon Secour College of Nursing in 1957. She worked as a nurse in pediatrics mostly. In retirement she worked as a hospice coordinator, Chaplain and Eucharistic minister for her local church, St Alphonsus Catholic Church. She traveled the USA first and then traveled Europe. She enjoyed quite a few Caribbean cruises with her late husband. Her favorite places were Ireland and Crossville. She was always a comfort to the sick and looked to the needs of others who were experiencing trying times throughout her life. She was loved and will be missed.
