Lewis A. "Jack" Paulsen

September 27, 1924 — January 16, 2022

Jack Paulsen, beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather “Papa Lew”, great grandfather, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at age 97. He was born in Little Rock Arkansas to Lewis and Robbie Paulsen on September 27, 1924. Jack was a veteran of WWII in the US Army Combat Engineers serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters before returning to his wife Marion in Glenview, Illinois. He turned to his army education and experience and finished college as a structural and mechanical engineer, a field he worked in for over 40 years. Jack loved to build and was often renovating or repairing the homes of friends and family in his spare time. Jack enjoyed golf and played weekly until the age of 96. He was proud of the 3 hole-in-ones he achieved over the years. Fly-in fishing was another activity that he looked forward to every summer. Jack and Marion retired to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee where they enjoyed golfing and entertaining friends and family. Jack was an accomplished guitar and piano player and was often called upon to perform his special “boogie woogie” style which brought joy to all. Jack loved traveling to new places, working crossword puzzles, reading science magazines and publications, building RC airplanes and woodworking. His love of life was contagious. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marion, his parents, his step father Bill McCormick, his sister, Doris, his son John and grandson Jacob. In 2008, Jack was happily married to Margaret “Marge” Williams with whom he shared a joyous 14 years. She survives at the Pavillion for Senior Living, 130 Lebanon Hwy, Carthage, TN 37030. c/o Marge Paulsen. Jack is also survived by his children Karen (John) Holden, Steve (Sandy) Paulsen and Jeanne (Ken) Middlebrook and step-children Tom (Nancy) Williams, Edward (Ron Rupert ) Williams, Bob ( Marty Polasko) Williams, Peggy (Don) Jackson and Don (Julia) Williams and their families. Jack was a dear Papa Lew to grandchildren Robbie ( Hunter) Weeks, Andrew (Dana) Paulsen, Mikki ( Matt) Smith, Catherine (Colby) Buswell, Samantha (Jacob Phillips) Middlebrook, Dr. Michael (Maggie) Paulsen and Jennifer (Simon Fletcher) Carty. He is also survived by great grandchildren Lily, Sophie, Jada, Walker, Leif, Weston, Nora, Luna, Gunnar and Atlas. Cremation has taken place and Jack is resting in the St. Francis Catholic Church Columbarium in Fairfield Glade, TN. A celebration of his life will happen at a later date.
