Joyce Nunley

Joyce Ann Nunley, 69, passed away on Dec. 9, 2021, while surrounded by her family in her home after her long battle with cancer. Joyce was born on November 20, 1952, in St. Louis, MO and was raised in Memphis, TN. Joyce graduated from Westwood High School in Memphis, TN in 1970. She married Walter Emmett Nunley Sr. on August 21, 1969. The couple had four children, one son and three daughters, Walt, Christine, Katherine, and Susanne. The family settled in Crossville, TN, in 1994 where she worked in customer service and sales at various locations until illness slowed her down in early 2020. Joyce spent her remaining months traveling to see her sisters, other relatives and friends in the Memphis, TN area and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandson. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents James and Virginia Gaines and her mother-in-law, Madeline Hendrix. Survivors include her husband of fifty two years, Walter Nunley Sr.; her son and three daughters, Walter Nunley Jr., Christine Nixon, and Katie Johnson of Crossville, TN; Susanne (Aaron) Love of Knoxville, TN; her sisters, Sheila (Haywood) Wright of Cordova, TN; Sherry (Marty) Martin of Horn Lake, MS; and daughter in law Alison Nunley of Crossville, TN along with several other family members. Grammy is also survived by ten proud grandchildren and one great grandchild who adored her, Kirstin Nunley, Bryce Nunley, Haley Plenert, Madeline (Josh) Adams, Michael Nixon, Audrey Love, Sarah Love, Emily Nixon, Brooklyn Johnson, Addison Johnson and great grandbaby, Mason Jones The family will receive friends at Bilbrey’s Funeral Home in Crossville, TN on December 19th at 2 p.m. with funeral service immediately following at 4 p.m.
