John Edgar Turner

A Funeral Service for John Edgar Turner, age 82, of Crossville, TN, who passed away on March 9, 2023, will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 12:00 PM. Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 12:00 prior to the service. John Edgar Turner, 82, was born on October 29, 1940. John was the son of Claude M. Turner and Florence Elizabeth Pace Turner. A loving husband, father, and grandpa, he lived a life filled with hard work and dedication to his family. John married his wife, Duane, while they were still in high school and they loved each other for over 63 years. At a young age, John built a successful construction and general contracting business he ran for over 55 years. When not managing water lines for Crab Orchard Utility District or running his own business, he was managing a small cow/calf herd or working on the farm. A practical man who knew a little bit about everything, he was someone you called to ask “how exactly should I do this?” or “Is this a good idea?” And he’d reply “Well, now…” then proceed to tell you exactly how something should be built, repaired, stored, moved, hauled or be best just left alone. A fan of jokes and teasing and talking to everybody, he’ll live on in the stories we tell and laughs we share. John is survived by his loving wife Duane; devoted daughters Cindy Turner and Regina Turner; grandchildren Emily Upchurch Callison (Sean) and Daniel Norrod; brother - Claude Leonard "Red" Turner (Carolyn); special friend - Pete Souza; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sister, Reba England; brothers, William L. Turner, Cecil David Turner, and Kenneth Leon Turner.
