John Philip Hoover

John Philip Hoover, 79, of Pleasant Hill (Uplands Village), TN, passed away on November 26, 2022, in his home of natural causes. John Hoover was born in June 1943 in Huntington, WV. He attended Huntington Public Schools and earned a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University. Upon graduation, he served in the Peace Corps in Ethiopia. When he returned, he went to seminary and served churches in California and Hawaii. He was most proud of his achievements as founding minister rebuilding Hokuloa Church in Hawaii; he served Hokuloa for nearly 30 years. He loved cooking and baking for family and friends. John Hoover is survived by one sister, Jane Hoover-Plow of Cleveland and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. No visitation or memorial service is planned.
