Jay William Woodbeck

Jay William Woodbeck, age 89, of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away on May 6, 2022 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Cookeville, TN. He was born July 27, 1932 in Tipton, IN, son of the late Theodore William Woodbeck and Mildred Hester (Nichols) Woodbeck. He grew up in Mississippi where he graduated from Jackson High School in 1950 and from Mississippi Southern University in Hattiesburg in 1954, earning a BS in Business Administration. Mr. Woodbeck proudly served in the military (Army active, guard and reserve) for over 40 years. He retired as a Colonel with duty stations in the United States and Germany, receiving many service certificates, diplomas, honors and medals. His civilian career spanned fifteen years, working in insurance and aerospace organizations across the United States. He retired to Fairfield Glade, TN in 1995, active and in leadership positions of the local military organization MOAA and the Baptist church, most recently, Open Bible Ministries of TN. He is survived by his wife, Linda Kaye (Lindsey) Woodbeck of Fairfield Glade, TN, daughter Kristal Lucille Woodbeck of Texas, granddaughters Beau Brandi Benfield (Rohn) and Chelsea Danielle Woodbeck of Texas, great grandchildren Conor William Evans and Lillian (Lily) Marie Evans of Texas and Hunter Clinton Evans. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons Jay William Woodbeck, Jr. and Bennett Ray Woodbeck; and his brother Carol Edwin Woodbeck. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville, TN. Donations in his honor may be made to Franklin Graham Samaritans Purse, Upper Cumberland Chapter of Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) 931-210-7603, or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family greatly appreciates the loving care given to Jay at Heritage Pointe, Kindred Hospice, and Bilbrey Funeral Home.
