Glenn Mallery Barber was born in Bridgeport, CT on July 11th, 1940 to Glenn Taylor Barber and Marion Budde Barber. He passed away in Fairfield Glade, TN on January 31st, 2022. He leaves behind his wife Lesley Alice Lincoln and daughters Jacqueline Ann Zeiman, husband Robert of Martinsville, NJ, daughter Amy Allaire Barber and partner Bujar Emra of Beacon Falls, CT and estranged son Eric Emerson Barber, wife Jessica of Beacon Falls, CT. He was proud of his grand daughter Mallery Zeiman who is attending medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon, and grandson Gavin Zeiman who is astute in many sports. He is also survived by his sister, Valerie Brewster and husband Robert of Berkeley Heights, NJ and niece Dr. Suzanne Duval, pediatrician and husband John and their talented children in Middleton MA. Also, nephew Michael Brewster, wife Dawn and their children in Ringoes, NJ. Glenn was an excellent baseball player who starred as an outfielder for Fairfield Prep, in Fairfield, CT which was recognized for 3 years as the top ranked baseball team in the entire state of CT. Upon graduation, he was offered tryouts with the then Milwaukee, now Atlanta, Braves as well as the Baltimore Orioles where he was offered minor league contracts from both teams, but instead decided to go on to get his college education. He attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA and graduated in 1962 with a B.S. degree in Business Management. He played baseball for Lehigh for four years. He was a member of Delta Phi fraternity, one of the oldest continuing fraternities in the country. He served both as pledge master and steward. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve, in a boat maintenance and repair company where he was a welder and an underwater diver serving over 6 years of duty. At the same time he worked for a company in Bridgeport, CT in the advertising and marketing departments, where he met his first wife, Anne Gallagher with whom they had three children as mentioned previously. He went on to work for Raybestos-Manhattan, the leading producer of brake products in charge of both their Indy car and NASCAR racing programs at tracks around the country. He became close friends of NASCAR Hall of Fame drivers, Bobby Allison, Richard Petty and David Pearson. He also knew Bill France, Sr., founder of NASCAR and son, Bill, Jr. who 20 years later recruited Glenn to be Director of Public Relations for Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, FL. He oversaw five departments of the speedway and ran the press box with over 300 writers from around the world. After each race, Glenn conducted interviews with winners of each race. Glenn later moved nearby to Halifax Medical Center, a large 600 bed hospital as Director of the Halifax Medical Center Foundation where he raised countless monies to provide funding for many of the hospital departments equipment needs as well as for capital projects. He retired in 2006. Later, he met his current wife Lesley Lincoln and they married in 2004 in Maui, Hawaii. They were both excellent golfers and played the famed PGA tour courses on the island. They returned to live around the greater Orlando, FL area. In June, 2019 they moved to their current home in Fairfield Glade, TN. Glenn has brother-in-law Ward Lincoln, wife Gail, sister-in-law Laurie Lincoln, husband Rob, and nephew Curtis and niece Lianne in Montreal, Quebec area. Also sister-in-law Nancy Ungar, husband Bob, with homes in Delray Beach, FL and Montreal, Quebec. There will be a Celebration of Life on February 3rd, 2022.
