Gladys "Christine" Loveday, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at her residence in Crossville, TN. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and dedicated educator. Born on September 7, 1944, in Pikeville, TN, to the late Jesse Myers and Gladys (Melton) Myers. Christine is survived by her devoted husband, Coye Loveday. She was a loving and nurturing mother to her children, Russell Swafford (Christiana), Doug Loveday (Wendy), Jonathan Loveday (Sylvia), and Heather McLaughlin (Brian). Her legacy lives on in her cherished grandchildren, Amelia McDaniel (John), Zachary Swafford, Jeremiah Swafford, Lilly Rose Swafford, Tempest Swafford, Sara Reed (Nathan), Amy Loveday, Ivy Loveday, Hannah Lau (Gary), Jabin Loveday, Madison McLaughlin (Austin), Blake McLaughlin (Mikayla), and Daniel Hawn; and great grandchildren, Sarah, Maren, Ridley, David, Beau, Major, and Tate. Christine was a dear sister to Linda Milliron (Jimmy). In addition to her parents, Christine is preceded in death by her siblings Randall Myers and Alice Ann Holland, leaving behind cherished memories and a long-lasting family legacy. A dedicated teacher, Christine touched the lives of many students with her passion for education and was known for her unwavering commitment to their success. Her warmth and guidance helped countless young minds through her numerous years of teaching. Attending friends and family will fondly remember Christine, as her generous soul had left indelible marks on so many hearts. Christine was also a faithful member of the Crossville Church of Christ. She loved hiking and biking. She loved to hike in the Smoky Mountains and biking in Virginia and West Virginia on “Rails to Trails” venues. Christine loved to explore islands and beaches. Spending weeks each year on islands along the East coast and Florida. She loved spending whole days on the beach from sunrise to sunset. Christine loved eating at nice restaurants which led to her and Coye writing a “Dining Out” column for the Crossville Life paper. She never met a Crème Brulé that she didn’t like as well as her go to shrimp and grits. She loved golf and other sports and became a die-hard TN Vols fan in football and Lady Vols basketball enjoying season tickets in both and attended many bowl games. Christine also loved working in her flowers, spending days on end doing so. Pallbearers include her grandson, Jeremiah Swafford; grandsons-in-law, Gary Lau, Nathan Reed; Caden Speich, Daniel Hawn, Blake McLaughlin; and close family friend Brandon Savage. Honorary pallbearers include Micky Young, Tommy Crabtree, Dennis Vaughn, JC Davis, Gene Beaty, Austin Scott, Jerry Wood, Dalton Knight, Jimmy Milliron, and grandson Zachary Swafford. "We are grateful for her time with us and promise to continuedly cherish all she's anchored in us." Funeral Service will be held at Crossville Church of Christ on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM with burial to follow at McNeal Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 12:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Christine's memory to your favorite charity or by sending flowers to a shut in.
