George Dale Woods

George Dale Woods, age 88, of Crossville, TN, passed away at Cumberland House on October 21, 2023. Mr. Woods was born on March 28, 1935, in South Vienna, Ohio, son of the late Oscar Woods and Isabel (Turvey) Woods. George served our country in the United States Air Force and was a systems engineer for the FAA. He was a deacon of Central Baptist Church, board member of Camp Ozone, a member of Gideons International, and a founding member of the Crossville Model Railroad Club. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Woods; children, Ken Woods and Karen Burgess and her husband Tim; grandchildren, Kelly Reed, Eric Burgess and William Woods; great grandchildren, Max Reed, Miles Reed, Matthew Reed, Justin Burgess, Hudson Burgess, and Oliver Burgess; and brothers, Donald Woods and Richard Woods. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Burgess. Funeral Service will be held at Central Baptist Church on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM with burial to follow at Akins Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Arrangements and Care provided by Bilbrey Funeral Home and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gideons International.
