Freta Raye Brooks

Freta Raye Brooks, age 75, of Sparta, TN, passed away on November 2, 2023, at Ascension Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital. Mrs. Brooks was born on January 28, 1948, in Sparta, Tennessee, daughter of the late Fred Lawson and Lillie (Burgess) Lawson. Freta was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, James Brooks; son, Roy Thomas Chambers; sister, Betty Mathany; favorite niece, Noretta Prime; favorite sister-in-law, Sherri Lawson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Freta is preceded in death by her brothers, Roger Lawson, Ellis Lawson, Odus Lawson, and Arlon Vanwinkle; and sisters, Dolly Pippins, Hassie Thompson, Pauline Beaty, and Arvela Beaty. Graveside Service will be held at Thomas Springs Cemetery on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Arrangements and Care provided by Bilbrey Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
