Frances Arlene Jones

June 21, 1941 — December 7, 2024

Frances A. Jones, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2024, at age 83. Frances was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on June 21st, 1941, to George and Rose Opat-Fister. The oldest of three siblings, Frances, spent her life as a devoted and loving mother. Resilient, and stubborn, Frances would challenge even the most resolute of fortitudes should they have challenged her.

On May 5th, 1962, Frances married her high-school sweetheart, Edwin Jones. Edwin and Frances together welcomed their daughter, Lauri Anne Jones Michael, on April 18, 1967. Edwin and Lauri were the pride and passion of Frances, and she proudly spent her years loving and caring for them both. In 1994, Edwin preceded Frances in parting this world, following which Frances would remain devoted to him until her passing.

Frances was beloved and cherished by her entire family, and is survived by her brother and sister, Ronald G. Opat, Maryanne E. Freytag and brother-in law Dennis Freytag. Her loves for cooking, Checkers hot dogs with just ketchup (and nothing else), slot machines, drinking a beer while ironing, and whiskey (specifically Gentleman Jack) are remembered in her legacy carried forward by her daughter Lauri Anne Michael and son-in-law Eric M. Michael, nieces Dianna Freytag, Debbie Vacca-Freytag, granddaughter Rose Barton and granddaughter-in-law Danielle Cronin, grandson Andrew Barton and granddaughter-in-law Heather Barton, grandson Michael Barton and devoted life partner Schlyer Weiss, granddaughter Erica Mull-Michael, grandson Justin Michael, great grandson Gauge Cronin, great granddaughter Kendall Cronin, great granddaughter Amelia Barton, great granddaughter Marcy Mull-Michael, and great granddaughter Octavia Mull-Michael.

A private family viewing will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home before Frances returns to Florida, after thirty long-awaited years, to rejoin her best-friend and husband, where they may reside together again in the chambers of rest.

Frances’s favorite quote was “I have the best grandkids”. Her grandkids favorite quote is, and will continue to be, “We have the best grandmother.”
