The Rev. Douglas Harold MaGinn, age 76, passed away to the church triumphant on January 5, 2023, following a battle with numerous health issues. He was born on March 11, 1946 to Harold and Mildred MaGinn in Niagara Falls, NY.
Doug graduated from LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls, NY in 1964 and Capital University in Columbus, Ohio in 1968 and then Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1972. During his career he served as Pastor at the following churches: Grace Lutheran Church in Westerville, Ohio; St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Olean, Indiana; St Jacob’s Lutheran Church in Anna, Ohio; St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, Ohio; Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manistee, Michigan and St Paul Lutheran Church in Casco, Michigan. Doug also spent time serving as an Assistant to the Bishop in the Northwest Synod in Ohio. Doug eventually retired to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee and served as pastoral assistant at Christ Lutheran Church. He was loved and respected by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Karen and his four children: Mark MaGinn (Lynnae), Mike MaGinn (Amy), Matt MaGinn (Andrea) and Michele Wierzbicki (Frank). Grandchildren include Courtney MaGinn, Alec MaGinn, Taylor MaGinn, Ashleigh MaGinn, Aaron MaGinn, Sophia MaGinn, Ava MaGinn, Colton Wierzbicki, Colin Wierzbicki and Walker MaGinn. He is also survived by his brother, David MaGinn and his brothers-in-law David Lloyd and Bill Wilson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21 st at 11:00 CST at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade, TN. The service will be viewable via the Facebook link on the website page for Christ Lutheran Church (www.christlutheranchurchffg.org).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Christ Lutheran Church 481 Snead Dr Fairfield Glade, Tennessee 38558 or the Good Samaritan Society 100 Samaritan Way Crossville, Tennessee 38558. Please designate the donation is in memory of Douglas MaGinn.
Arrangements are being handled by Bilbrey Funeral Home in Crossville, TN and visitors to their site are encouraged to share any memories they have with Pastor Doug.
