David Lynn Jones, 52, of Crossville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on June 16th, 2022. He was born to parents Dewey and Geraldine Jones on August 11, 1969. Farming and agriculture were naturally a huge piece of his life growing up as his family worked in the farming business for years. As a young man and into early adulthood, he learned the essentials to harvesting a crop: seeding, plowing, cultivating, fertilizing. All practices that would serve as a catalyst for his true calling later in life. As a young adult, David’s life and direction would shift as he responded to God’s calling for his life. God would still have it for him to harvest, but David would rear a new crop– the lost. He became ordained into the ministry and attended Southwest Seminary in Texas for two years. David knew God intimately and walked with Him daily. He spent countless hours poring over scripture and writing a number of God-breathed sermons. He loved teaching the Bible to his children and grandchildren. His knowledge of God’s word and his love for people allowed him to be a channel of blessings as he led many loved ones in Bible studies and genuinely and fervently prayed with and for others. He planted, nurtured, and tended the seeds of hope, love, and faith into the lives of many family members, friends, and strangers, and what crop could ever be more fruitful or satisfying than that? In addition to his faith, family also fueled his purpose in life. He was passionate about spending time with his family. He helped raise four children and was the beloved “Pa” to four precious grandchildren. He was a priceless earthly father who loved BIG and helped lead his children to their heavenly father who loves most. That is the legacy that will live on in the hearts of his children. To know David was to love him. He had such a welcoming, kind, and humble spirit that reached out in love to all he knew. He had a contagious smile and possessed a warmth that made you feel at home. His words could calm any fear or doubt, encourage the poor in spirit, help give clarity on God’s direction, remind you of your worth, make you feel loved and important, the list could not be exhausted. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, amazing big heart, great sense of humor, compassion for others, and willingness to show up, listen, and help. Undoubtedly, he was a man after God’s own heart and his testimony was grace and that love conquers ALL (Ephesians 1:11-12). Heaven gained a precious soul! One day those who have “confessed their sins, believed in their heart and confessed with their mouth that Jesus is Lord'' (John 1:9) will be rejoicing together, praising the Lord forever! The family will be receiving family and friends on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022, at Bilbrey’s funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30th, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Central Baptist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the Gideons for Bibles or to St. Jude’s Hospital. Please reference in memory of David Lynn Jones.
