David Farber of Crossville, TN went to be with his Lord Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born September 1, 1936 to Raymond and Myrtle Farber of Bowmanstown, PA. He graduated from Palmerton H.S. and received a masters degree in mathematics from Muhlenberg College. David had a 32 year teaching career in New Jersey at North Hunterdon H.S., Voorhees H.S., and Ryder College.
David and his wife Linda have five children: Ann (Richard) Werther of MI; Michael (Lori) Farber of Stewartsville, NJ; Robin Miller of Maryville, TN; Matthew (Colleen) Farber of High Bridge, NJ; and Christy (Mal Warne) Farber of San Francisco, CA. They were blessed with thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. David is survived by sisters, Joann King of Palmerton, PA, and Susan Farber of Amherst, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Lichtenwalter, brother Richard Farber, and youngest daughter Christy.
David was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade. He also played in the Cumberland County Community Band and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Crossville, TN. While in NJ, he was a member of the Hunterdon Harmonizer’s barbershop chorus, a long time member of both St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington and Clinton Methodist Church. David served as a Stephen Minister and was an Army National Guard Veteran.
David loved music and was a life long trumpeter. He played softball and was an avid basketball player. He participated on the Senior Olympics basketball team. He enjoyed golfing, eating chocolate, and spending time with his large and growing family.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade on February 17th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Christ Lutheran Church (481 Snead Drive, Fairfield Glade, TN 38558) or the Cumberland County Community Band (PO Box 1624, Crossville, TN 38558).
