Daniel Guy Holmes of Lebanon, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon. He was 63 years of age. He attended Roane State Community College where he was pursuing a degree in education. He left to pursue a career at Alcatel Network Systems, Trivergent Communications (later Nuvox), and spent fifteen years at Cybera, Inc. (now PDI Technologies, Inc) as Senior Network Technician with a cyber security company. He was a former owner of By-Sel Realty (construction) and Dairy Queen. He was also a manager at Domino’s Pizza. Daniel was not an avid reader but loved to research subjects related to his work, news, religion, politics, etc. He was a highly intelligent man with a sharp mind for details. He loved reading his Bible and was deeply knowledgeable about it. He also loved UT football. He enjoyed volunteering with Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief. He received his license as a ham radio operator in 2004 and was able to use those skills for Disaster Relief by being an instructor at the annual regional trainings. Daniel was a great husband, brother, uncle, son, and follower of Christ. He loved and prayed daily for his family members. He also loved his Agape Sunday School class and church family at Fairview Church in Lebanon. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Holmes, of Lebanon, Tennessee; his sister, Debbie Holmes Rogowski, of Nashville, Tennessee; his sister-in-law, Judy Holmes, of Alexander, North Carolina, and Martha Repsel (Bill), of Clarksville, Tennessee; his nephews, Josh Holmes (Liza), of Asheville, North Carolina, and Matthew Repsel, of Clarksville, Tennessee; his niece, Sarah Holmes, of Asheville, North Carolina; his great-niece, Alaphair Holmes, of Asheville, North Carolina; his great- nephews, Jack Roland and Harper Holmes, both of Asheville, North Carolina, and Jason Repsel, of Clarksville, Tennessee. He is also survived by many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Leona (Turner) Holmes; his brother, Ed “Bo” Holmes; and his brother-in-law, David Rogowski. Memorial Services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM with Rev. Wesley Jones officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service. The Agape Sunday School class and Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers are honorary pallbearers.
