Aretie G. Patterson, age 82, died March 9th peacefully in her sleep with her husband at her side and is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born July 11, 1941, in Newport News, VA, the eldest daughter of James J. Gallins and Marie Tsitsera Gallins An honors graduate of Richmond University, she taught and was an administrator in Virginia schools for many years before retiring and moving to Tennessee. Mrs. Patterson served on the Cumberland County School Board and was instrumental for the new Crab Orchard Elementary School. She was of the Greek Orthodox faith. Survivors include her husband, John L. Patterson, Jr. of Fairfield Glade, daughter, Lora Danley of New York City, son, Mark Danley of West Point, NY, sisters Joanne Gallins and Penny (Marty) Gallins-Viehweg of Newport News, VA, several nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Edward Danley and a sister, Rose Fleming. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
